Image of InstructorHow to Place Materials on Reserve
COM Library suggests that faculty consider placing materials on reserve when you anticipate high demand. Any one resource assigned to an entire class would be considered high demand. The materials may include anything owned by the library or by an instructor. To place materials on reserve, please contact a circulation staff member with the information below, at (409) 938-1211 x 205/448 or email at dl-library-circulation@com.edu. Here are some things to know about Reserves:

  1. Library materials and personal copies of items may be placed on reserve for students.
  2. Fill out a Reserve Request form at the Library Circulation Desk, or download a Word version (change view to Print Layout if form looks odd) of the form to print out and deliver to Circulation with the corresponding item(s) to be placed on reserve. You will need the following information:

    • Course & Section
    • Date Placed on Reserve
    • Course Title
    • Instructor's Name
    • Author & Call Number
    • Title(s) of items(s)
    • Number of Copies
    • Personal or library copy
    • List Price
    • Date to be removed from Reserve Loan period, to be determined by instructor:
  3. Library use only
    1 Day
    3 Days
    7 Days

  4. A minimum of 48 hours is required for materials to be processed before sending students to the library to use the item(s).
  5. Reserve materials are reviewed each Fall and Spring semester. If you wish materials to be left on reserve for the next semester, please indicate so on the Reserve Request form. All other items will be removed and returned to owner.
  6. A minimum of 48 hours is required for removal of items from reserve.
